Thank you very much for your visit. Okay, this is my 31st year of managing The Gumshoe Site. I cannot believe it! I moved to another place in November 2022 and I am still arranging my boxes of books and books and books. This moving results in my being way behind my schedule of managing this same old site. I am still wondering if I should continue keeping this old site. I have not made a decision yet. Despite of this same mumblings as last year, I hope you enjoy this site. Frances Crawford Wins McIlvanney, Bloody Scotland Debut
Bloody Scotland announced that Frances Crawford won not only the 2026 McIlvanney Prize for A BAD, BAD PLACE (Bantam) as the best Scottish Crime book of the year, but also the 2026 Blood Scotland Debut Prize.for the same first novel of hers.
The winner announcement and presentation took placce on September 18 in the Church of the Holy Rude on the opening night of the Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival, in Stirlind, Scotland. (September 19, 2026)

Elly Griffiths Wins 2026 Theakston's Crime
Harrogate International Festivals has announced that THE FROZEN PEOPLE, by Elly Griffiths (Quercus Books) won the 2026 Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award.
At the same ceremony, A BAD, BAD PLACE, by Frances Crawford (Penguin Random House) won the 2026 McDermid Debut Award.
And David Baldacci received the 2026 Theakston Old Peculier Outstanding Contribution Award for his work making a lasting impact on the genre.
