Samantha Jayne Alien Wins Hammett

The International Association of Crime Writers/North America (IACW/NA) announced that PAY DIRT ROAD, by Samantha Jayne Allen (Minotaur) is the winner for the 2023 Hammett Prize as the best book published in 2022 for literary excellence in crime writing.

The Hammett Prize winning novel, introducing Texas private investigator Annie McIntyre, is the winner for the 2019 Tony HIllerman Prize, and has been nominated for the 2023 Shamus Award in the first P.I. novel catgory.

The location of the presentation of the 2023 Hammett Prize will be announced. (June 25, 2023)

The WORD Chistchurch Writers & Readers Festival in Christchurch, New Zealand has announced the winners of the 2022 Ngaio Marsh Awards for excelence in New Zealand crime, mystery and thriller writing as follows:

No, it is NOT my typing error or anybody's error. Ms. Jacqueline Bublitz has won the two Ngaio Awards for best novel and for best first novel selected by two separate judge groups. Probably it is the first time an winner receives both Ngaio awards.

The winning (first) novel was shortlisted for the 2022 CWA Gold Dagger in UK. The American edition will be published later this year from Emily Bestler Books/Atria. (September 17, 2022)
